Research

Faculty in the Department of English boast numerous National Research grants, internationally-renowned Research Centres and a diverse array of publications. The English Department is made up of dynamic and enthusiastic teachers and prolific writers. Our faculty regularly receive campus awards for teaching and research.

The Modern Literature and Culture Centre and the Centre for Digital Humanities are each affiliated with the department of English.

Committed to diversity and inclusion, the Centre for Digital Humanities sustains a dynamic synergy between research and teaching by involving students in digital projects in the classroom and by training future researchers in digital humanities theory and practice. Research assistants working on faculty-sponsored digital projects become CDH Student Fellows and are encouraged to develop their own research projects.

Creative Writing at Toronto Metropolitan University participates in the larger literary cultures that shape Toronto and North America.  Through the production of our literary journal, The White Wall Review (external link) , students participate in diverse cultures of contemporary writing to discover the animating terms that motivate discourse in today's society.
