As an interdisciplinary scholar, my research and teaching focus on the natural environment and human health, advanced quantitative analysis for health research, and Indigenous health and well-being, incorporating traditional Indigenous knowledge and Indigenous led community-based participatory research (CBPR). I believe in research that generates practical, real-life results and empowers participants to make decisions for their health. I am particularly interested in research results that aid in mitigating exposure to environmental pollutants with minimal changes or impacts on the day-to-day lifestyles of participants.

Prior to joining the School of Occupational and Public Health in July 2022, I was a senior lecturer in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment at Concordia University in Montreal, where I taught undergraduate and graduate courses for almost 13 years - and supervised students. I was awarded my doctorate in environmental health from the University of Toronto and then completed postdoctoral training at the University of Toronto and Toronto Metropolitan University, where my research focused on advanced risk assessment of environmental pollutants, SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) transmission, pandemic planning, and resiliency. I also hold undergraduate honours and graduate degrees in health sciences, public health, and impact assessment from the University of Ottawa and Concordia University. My current research focuses on applications of big data analytics and environmental health and toxicological follow-up studies in Indigenous communities in northern Canada. If you are interested in chatting about research opportunities, send me an email or drop by my office.
