Awards and Scholarships
Students in programs offered by the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies have a wide range of awards and scholarships available exclusively to them. Opportunities exist for both incoming and current students with awards based on academic and non-academic criteria. The selections are made by the Department Awards Committee based on the criteria established in discussion with the donor. An application is not required for most of these awards, however you will need to register yourself on our university AwardSpring website. In addition to the program-specific awards listed here, students are encouraged to seek university-wide award and scholarship opportunities.
Industry-Sponsored Student Awards
The following industry-sponsored awards are available to Geographic Analysis undergraduate students:
- $1,000 Environics Analytics Entrance Scholarship (two awards)
- $1,000 Environics Analytics First-Year Achievement Award
- $1,000 Environics Analytics Retail Geography

- $1,000 Environics Analytics Scholarship for Exemplary Service and Community Engagement
- Esri Canada GIS Scholarship for Best Overall Performance in GIS
The following award sponsored by Environics Analytics is available to Master of Spatial Analysis graduate students:
- $2000 Master of Spatial Analysis Entrance Scholarship
- $2000 Environics Analytics Academic Career Award
Community- and Individually Sponsored Awards
The following awards are made available each year by individual donors, or professional and community organizations:
- $1,000 Environmental Leadership & Community Engagement Award
