Sentient

Decades after the AI takeover, nature has reclaimed the abandoned High Bay at the Design Technology Lab. The cold basement once buzzing with activities is hardly recognizable amidst the concrete ruins and overgrown flora. Left to decay, the unmaintained concrete ceiling has begun to show its wear, littering the ground with debris. Through the foliage, the morning sun floods the basement window, resembling a forest in the dappling sun. One of Earth’s last remaining survivors, a young explorer by the name of Anderson, heard rumors of a caged beast, the KUKA KR 210 R2700-2, that had been left abandoned at the lab since the AI takeover. Worried the machine is sentient, he decided to infiltrate the DCC building to investigate, leaving behind a GoPro to observe the KUKA overnight. 

What he discovered was nightmarish.

Sentient is a 1:20 scale model in which Ernest explores lighting techniques to simulate different times of day. He captures and recreates real world details using digital fabrication tools such as 3D printing, 3D scanning, and laser cutting, transforming the high bay of the Design Technology Lab into a hyper realistic model.
