Awards and Scholarships

The School of Child and Youth Care offers competitive student awards that recognize your achievements, facilitate your education and promote your success.

Applications typically open in September and close in October every year.

In celebration of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Children’s Rights Award recognizes a student in the School of Child & Youth Care who has advanced the rights of children through his/her/their employment, internship/work placement, volunteerism, and/or community engagement. The award is available to both full-time and part-time students in the School of Child & Youth Care.

The Emily Durst Award enables recipients to pursue higher education and supports their goal to serve as role models of healthy and responsible lifestyle choices and is available to full-time Child and Youth Care students.

This award is presented in honour of Francis G. Hare, Founder of the School of Child and Youth Care at Toronto Metropolitan University. The award is open to all Child and Youth Care full-time and part-time students and is awarded to the CYC student with the highest GPA in Social Research and Evaluation courses.

The Nancy C. Sprott Award will provide financial assistance and recognize the academic achievement of full-time undergraduate students in the School of Child and Youth Care.

This award recognizes full-time and part-time students who have demonstrated academic excellence as well as a commitment to the values and aspirations of the field of child and youth care, either on campus or off campus. The award seeks to recognize emerging leaders in the field either locally, nationally or internationally.
