Camper Electronics Policy

Electronics Usage Policy for Toronto Met Architectural Science Day Camps

At Toronto Met Architectural Science Day Camps, we recognize the importance of technology in education and social development. At the same time, we also believe that use of electronic devices can take away from the community experience that defines our camp. Therefore, we encourage our camp families to discuss the benefits of unplugging during camp and engaging fully in camp activities with their counsellors.

Policy Guidelines:

  1. Use of Electronic Devices:
    • While at camp, campers are expected to refrain from using electronic devices (cell phones, gaming devices, music players, and any other electronic devices). These devices disrupt the camp programming and distract from their camp experience.
  2. Safety and Responsibility:
    • We advise families to leave expensive electronic devices at home to prevent potential damage, loss, or theft. Toronto Met Arhcitectural Science Day Camps cannot assume responsibility for any personal items brought to camp, including electronic devices.
  3. Camper Expectations:
    • If a camper brings an electronic device to camp, they will be asked to keep it stored during camp activities to promote engagement with fellow campers and enhance their overall camp experience.
  4. Communication Protocol:
    • Campers needing to contact their parents for pick-up using a personal device can do so momentarily, but that is the only necesary use for electronics at camp. This policy ensures that campers remain focused on camp activities and fosters a sense of independence.
  5. Early Departure Procedure:
    • Parents or guardians wishing to sign out their camper early must let a camp counsellor know at drop-off or email dascamps@torontomu.ca. Direct communication with campers via personal devices is discouraged for early departure arrangements.

Conclusion:

These guidelines are designed to create a supportive and inclusive environment where campers can fully engage with activities and each other. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain this enriching experience for all campers at Toronto Met Architectural Science Day Camps.
