This training session is hosted by Bridging Divides and open to all BD researchers, affiliated researchers, HQPs, partners, and staff. The training is led by Kristy Allen, Waypoint Research Institute.
Note: An in-person version of this training is also available on March 19, 2025, with the same content. In-person spots are limited, we encourage participants to reserve their seat by registering for either one of the sessions.
The Virtual Knowledge Mobilization (KMb) Training is an interactive session designed to strengthen participants' KMb skills and support their strategic planning. The training will focus on developing effective KMb strategies, engaging collaborators and stakeholders, managing relationships with organizations and individuals, and fostering meaningful and ethical engagement and allyship. With a practical, real-world approach, the session will equip participants with actionable strategies for effectively disseminating research findings.
The training will take place via Zoom on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM EST and will feature breakout rooms, polls, and interactive discussions to enhance engagement and learning.
More about the presenter
Kristy Allen (she/her) is a Knowledge Translation and Implementation Coordinator with the Waypoint Research Institute. She completed her Masters of Public Health degree with a concentration in Social Inequities in Health from Simon Fraser University and holds Honours BA in Psychology and a minor in Family & Child Studies from the University of Guelph. In addition, she has obtained certificates in Knowledge Mobilization from the University of Guelph, in Family Engagement in Research (FER) & Leadership in FER from McMaster University, and holds a Level 1 Implementation Support Specialist Certification through the Centre for Implementation. She has previously worked in community engagement and knowledge translation roles with Frayme and the Canadian Mental Health Association- BC Division.
Kristy is passionate about knowledge mobilization and community engagement as drivers of implementation and sustainability within research, programs, and services. Through her current role, she advocates for patients & families to be key stakeholders in mental health system transformation. Outside of work, Kristy enjoys doing anything outside, swimming, and reading.
