As a Business Management student, you’ll acquire an intensive grounding in the fundamentals of business before choosing one of our seven innovative majors at the end of your first year.

Become well-versed in analysis and quantitative skills to become a leader in fast-paced global economy. In our highly technical and computerized world, acquiring timely and accurate business and economic data is essential for successful management decision-making.

The strongest integration of law and business of any BComm (Honours) program in Canada. Gain a solid understanding of key legal issues in the corporate world, including contract negotiations, human resources, policy development and property transactions.

In today’s marketplace, all businesses are affected by events taking place around the world. In Global Management Studies, you will acquire managerial skills and the cultural understanding to lead in the new global business environment.

Learn to manage a diverse workforce, strategically recruit employees, keep good personnel and train and develop your employees while fostering a fair and ethical work environment.

Launch a winning startup, create a sustainable and competitive enterprise or bring innovation and entrepreneurial skills to an existing organization, whether for-profit or not-for-profit. Recognized internationally as a world leader in Entrepreneurship education, we offer more undergraduate Entrepreneurship courses than any other Canadian university and access to resources to support student startups. Our Entrepreneurship professors have extensive real-world experience, work directly with student startups and teach up-to-the-minute courses.

Explore innovative new ways to engage with consumers. Learn how to interpret and respond to customer needs better than the competition by analyzing consumer trends, competitive activity and other factors.

Real estate propels the local and national economy. Learn the skills that will allow you to thrive in the housing and commercial property arenas, real estate finance, property development, economics, sustainability and real estate law. Our Real Estate Management major was created in close consultation with industry experts.

1st Semester

REQUIRED:

LIBERAL STUDIES:
One course from Table A - Lower Level Liberal Studies.

 

2nd Semester

REQUIRED:

  • ECN 204 Introductory Macroeconomics
  • MHR 523 Human Resources Management
  • MKT 100* Principles of Marketing
  • QMS 210 Applied Statistics for Business

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with a minimum of six Grade 12 U or M courses including the following program-specific requirements.

Typically, a minimum overall average of 70% establishes eligibility for admission consideration; subject to competition individual programs may require higher prerequisite grades and/or higher overall averages:

  • English/anglais (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred)
  • Mathematics (one of Calculus and Vectors [MCV4U], Advanced Functions [MHF4U] or Mathematics of Data Management [MDM4U])
  • MCV4U is the preferred mathematics course
  • Note: The minimum grade(s) required in the subject prerequisites (normally in the 70% range) will be determined subject to competition

Academic admission requirements for all other applicants are available at: Admission Requirements.

All applicants to the program must have the following qualifications: A and C, or B and C.

  • A. O.S.S.D. with six Grade 12 U/M courses, including Grade 12 U courses in: English and Mathematics (one of Grade 12 U Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U), Advanced Functions (MHF4U) or Mathematics of Data Management (MDM4U).

OR

AND

  • C. Completion of at least one certificate program from the Business Management area taken through The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education, or seven individual courses from the Bachelor of Commerce (Business Management) program taken through The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education, or equivalent qualifications from other post-secondary institutions. The cumulative grade point average required for admission each year is determined on the basis of competition. Candidates are encouraged to present cumulative grade point averages of 2.67 (B-) or higher to maximize their chances for admission consideration on a competitive basis.

Notes:

  1. ENG4U/EAE4U is the preferred English.
  2. Grade 12 U Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U) is the preferred Mathematics course.
  3. The grade(s) required in the subject prerequisites (normally in the 70 percent range or higher) will be determined subject to competition.
  4. Subject to competition, candidates will be required to present averages/grades above the minimum.

Students interested in pursuing an Entrepreneurship and Innovation Major should know that the majority of courses required for the Major will not be available in the evening (at this time). Students wanting to pursue this Major will have to take the majority of the required courses during the day.

Please note: 

  • Part-time Business Management degree students may take up to a total of three (3) courses per semester. Students who want to take more than 3 courses per semester must apply to the full-time program.
  • At this time, the co-op option is not available to part-time students

  • A Toronto Metropolitan University-approved three-year Advanced Diploma in Business Administration from a public Ontario College is required for admission consideration
  • The cumulative grade point average required for admission each year is determined on the basis of competition. Candidates are encouraged to present a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher to maximize their chances for admission consideration
  • Applicants will be considered for admission to third year, and will also be required to complete up to six courses from year two or provide evidence that equivalent courses have been taken
