The Faculty of Arts offers outstanding graduate programs that combine rigorous research with experiential learning opportunities. These programs equip students to navigate the challenges and opportunities of interconnected local, regional, and global landscapes. With over 340 graduate students across 13 Arts and interdisciplinary programs, the faculty provides immersive, community-engaged, work-integrated learning that enhances academic development. In 2024, our graduate students secured more than 1.8 million dollars in external fellowship and scholarship funding. A significant portion of our graduate students actively contribute as authors at conferences and in publications. Many also engage in internships that lead to rewarding employment upon graduation. The faculty's strong alumni networks further support the success and career advancement of our graduates.

Graduate Programs
The MA in International Economics and Finance is a specialized program designed for students in the early stages of their professional careers. Compulsory core courses are designed to provide students with a solid background in economic theory, financial theory and econometrics. Elective courses provide specialized training in fields ranging from labour economics to game theory. The program is available on a full-time (one year) or a part-time (two years) basis.
The Literatures of Modernity program provides literature-focused professional skill development for academia and beyond. Our innovative courses investigate diverse works from cultural, historical, and global perspectives and, in doing so, illuminate the ideas and social structures of modernity that have shaped and continue to shape our contemporary world.
A rising centre of excellence in the North American philosophical community, TMU’s Department of Philosophy offers a distinctive program leading to a Master of Arts (MA) degree in philosophy. Located in the heart of Toronto’s vibrant downtown, the program contributes to the thriving research culture in Canada’s largest and most cosmopolitan city.
The PhD Policy Studies program is Canada’s first and only interdisciplinary doctoral program in policy. Societal need for policy research has grown in response to the realities of the knowledge economy and the complex policy challenges facing communities, cities, regions, nations and the world. Traditional policy fields are increasingly interconnected, have domestic and international dimensions and involve policy actors from the public, non-profit and private sectors. These innate features of public policy require interdisciplinary knowledge and research collaboration across disciplinary boundaries.
The MA and PhD in Psychological Science at Toronto Metropolitan University offer graduate students the opportunity to train in an environment that fosters excellence in basic, applied, and translational research.
The Clinical Psychology program is designed to train professional psychologists at the doctoral level within a scientist-practitioner orientation.

The Master of Spatial Analysis with its unique MSA degree designation is an academically rigorous yet professionally oriented, 12-month graduate program with a 16 to 20-month thesis option. Through project-based lectures and labs, a work placement, and a major research paper or thesis, MSA students are prepared to think geographically and master geographic information systems (GIS) to support operational and strategic decision-making in government and industry.
