Recreation & Active Wellbeing at TMU offers fun and accessible ways to add movement into your routine. Whether you want to join a sports league, try a fitness class, or take a movement break, staying active can boost your wellbeing, focus, and connection with others.

2SLGBTQ+ & Allies Programming
2SLGBTQ+ and allies' programs provide a safe and affirming environment for anyone at TMU who is committed to creating a positive space for our 2SLGBTQ+ community.
Women’s Only Programming
Women’s only programs are designed to ensure women of all backgrounds and abilities feel safe and comfortable using our programs, facilities, and services. Anyone at TMU who identifies as a woman is welcome (including all cis and trans individuals who identify as a woman).
Accessible Programming
The Recreation and Active wellbeing team at TMU is eager to adapt programs and services to serve the needs of the diverse TMU community. The Recreation & Athletics Centre (RAC) and the Mattamy Athletic Centre (MAC) include accessible options in terms of facilities, amenities and programming.
Workout Buddies
Get connected to fellow students with similar interests and fitness goals as you. Whether you’re brand new to the gym or a seasoned regular, Workout Buddies are for anyone looking to be kept accountable to their exercise goals, and who doesn't mind making a friend in the process.
Aquatics/Swim Lessons
Swimmers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to use the RAC pool with certified swim instructors who provide guidance and teach the fundamentals of swimming. The pool schedule (opens in new window) provides details on hours and types of swimming.
Recreational Clubs
Clubs reflect diverse sports and fitness interests, and offer you the chance to gain skills and for some, actively compete for the university.

TMU Bold Athletics offers both competitive and varsity clubs.
Intramural Sports & Social Leagues (external link)
Intramural sports & social leagues build friendships, promote active wellness, and celebrate diversity through play and competition. There are a variety of sports including volleyball, badminton, basketball, and more. There are open, mixed, and women’s leagues, as well as separate recreation and competitive divisions.
Drop-In Recreation
Drop-in recreation is a time where students and RAC/MAC members can stop by to participate in programming and build community. Learn To Play Sports is a new addition to the Drop-in Recreation program where participants can learn and practice playing basketball, soccer, and volleyball.
Group Fitness
Drop-in to one of 30 group fitness classes led by certified fitness instructors. Classes include dance, spin, strength, cardio, meditation, and more. View the group fitness schedule for details.
'Learn To' Program
The 'Learn To' Program is a comprehensive learning experience that opens doors to new skills and abilities. 'Learn to' Classes run over a multi-week period, and 'Learn To' Workshops run over a 1-day or multiple day period. Registration is required and there is a fee associated. Classes have included cooking, dancing, self-defense and more.
Movement Breaks
Recharge your mind and body between classes or meetings with a quick movement break activity.
Certifications
Earn your certification in Emergency First Aid, Standard First Aid, and CPR with courses offered through the Lifesaving Society and Canadian Red Cross.
Welcome Lounge in the RAC
The Welcome Lounge in the Recreation & Athletic Centre (RAC) offers tables, booths and couch space - all with power outlets - to connect, study or unwind in a quiet space before or after getting active, or any time.
