Meet the Urban Health Research Chair
Dr. Suzanne Fredericks is a professor in the Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing at Toronto Metropolitan University, and a nurse scientist. She has developed an innovative and highly creative research program that is underpinned by the unifying theme of supporting individuals through research, education, and mentorship. Dr. Fredericks’ work has had a meaningful impact on reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease globally. Developed in alliance with patients, clinicians, research trainees, and scholars, the evidence-based initiatives she has created are supporting and improving the health and well-being of individuals and their families. Across Canada, Dr. Fredericks’ work has led to notable clinical practice changes, while globally she has had a profound impact on the quality and accessibility of evidence-based nursing output. Dr. Fredericks has received many awards, including Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Nursing.
