EDC Access for Undergrad Students in the Winter 2024 Term Ended on April 26th

EDC access for undergraduate students enrolled in courses during the 2024 Winter Term has ended. Only students enrolled in Creative School courses that run in the Spring/Summer 2024 Term are eligible to use EDC equipment and facilities.

Microphones

The EDC has many microphones for a wide variety of uses. Some microphones are owned by individual schools and are only available to the students of that school.

Shotgun Mic
Shotgun Mic

Supercardioid pick-up pattern. Good for dialogue and foley recording. Can be camera mounted or used with a boompole.

Shure SM58

Hand-held Omni-directional mic. Best used for interviews and vocal recordings.

Shure SM57

Unidirectional dynamic microphone. Best used for musical instrument pickup or for vocals.

Wired Lavalier

Omni-directional lapel mic. Best used for interviews or vocal recordings. Recommended to be used over wireless lavs when possible.

Wireless Lavalieres

Omni-directional lapel mic. Best used for interviews or vocal recordings where wired lavaliers would be a hindrance.

Comes in a set of mic, mic clip, XLR to 1/8" cable, transmitter and receiver.

USB Mics
USB Mics

Connect to USB ports of a computer. Best for recording audio directly to a computer. Best used for pod casting, videoconferencing, or easy setup for audio recording.
