Health Services Management programs
Health Services Management (BComm (Hons)) degree
The Health Services Management (HSM) major prepares students to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals who can manage effectively within the complex Canadian healthcare system. It combines the strengths of the Business Management program with specialized courses in healthcare administration in one degree. This major offers practical, real-world experience through practicum placements and prepares students for a fast-growing sector with strong employment prospects in healthcare management, policy and informatics. It is accredited by both the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) and the Canadian College of Health Leaders (Canadian Health Information Management Association accredited).
Bachelor of Health Administration (BHA) degree
The Bachelor of Health Administration (BHA) program is a degree-completion model that offers healthcare workers the opportunity to get credit for their diploma courses as they work toward a university degree. The program is designed primarily for individuals currently working in applied healthcare who hold a diploma from one of the Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology (CAAT) and/or those certified by the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) who are currently working in Health Information Management and hold a CHIMA-certified two-year diploma in Health Information Management. The program also includes a Practicum course that must be completed in conjunction with a partner health organization in the community.
The BHA program
was the first undergraduate program of its kind in Canada
After graduating from the BHA program at TMU in 2019, a lot of opportunities were offered to me. In May 2020, I started my new adventure in Ottawa as the Regional Discipline Operations Manager-anatomic pathology for EORLA. It is a significant advancement in my career, and a lot is due to the quality of education and mentorship I had from this program.
