Repayment and Interest-Free Status

When you participate in the OSAP program, you are entering into a contract with the provincial and federal governments. Part of that contract states that you will assume responsibility for maintaining your student loans, whether that means repaying your student loans when you officially enter repayment, or establishing interest-free status when you are continuing studies.

The National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC) (external link, opens in new window)  is your “lender” of student loans. Detailed information related to your overall student loans can be found on your NSLSC Portal (external link, opens in new window) .

It is important that you proactively monitor your OSAP and NSLSC accounts for any changes to your profile information and enrolment (such as study period start and end dates, program information, etc). We recommend checking your OSAP and NSLSC portals on a weekly basis so you don’t miss out on important updates.

Are your OSAP student loans about to enter repayment? Do you have previous OSAP student loans, and are looking to keep them in interest-free status? Check out our web pages on information related to repaying your OSAP loans and maintaining interest-free status.
