Call for papers:

Worldwide, the protection of human rights is experiencing an unprecedented downturn, affecting people on the move in particular. Our panel proposes a conversation between migration research and future studies in order to inspire participants to imagine new pathways for human dignity in the context of international mobility. The panel offers a setting to critically and reflexively investigate the methodological, thematic, and political opportunities that future studies hold for our field of inquiry. Building on the experiences gathered from three international research projects that explore migration and futures from the local to the global, it challenges participants to engage with the following questions: 

• Why are we mobilizing futures in our research on international migration and with people on the move?
• How does the field of future studies enhance the conceptual and methodological frameworks required to analyse human rights violations and mobilise collective action for global equity?
• How can reflexive migration scholars learn and build on insights from future studies?
