Demiana Mourad Fawzi Kamel

Demiana Mourad Fawzi Kamel is a Senior Technical Officer at the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population with over 12 years of experience in public health, including leadership, Infection Prevention and Control management, and health systems strengthening. She holds a Master of Public Health in Global Health Security from Yonsei University, Republic of Korea, and a Certificate in Migration Governance from the American University in Cairo. Her work focuses on communicable disease prevention, refugee and migrant health, global health security, and the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of national health programs. She has collaborated with international organizations, including IOM, UNHCR, UNDP, and other partners, on initiatives that improve access to healthcare for vulnerable populations. Her research interests include migration health governance, equitable access to health services, health policy, and strengthening resilient health systems to support universal health coverage and emergency preparedness.

Research focus while a Fellow at the Institute

Demiana Mourad Fawzi Kamel’s research focus at the Global Migration Institute will be on strengthening health systems to improve equitable access to healthcare for migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable populations. She aims to explore evidence based policies, migration health governance, and cross sectoral approaches that enhance health security, disease prevention, and continuity of care. Her research will examine how national health systems can better integrate migrant responsive services while supporting universal health coverage and sustainable public health outcomes.
