Cristann Bedasee – 2021 Graduate and First Recipient of the Geographic Analysis Token
Congratulations to our Class of 2021! Among the 23 Geographic Analysis graduates this spring, Cristann Bedasee was the first to respond to the offer to receive 100 units of the Geographic Analysis program’s own crypto token, GATO.
The token was created in appreciation of this year’s graduating students, who prevailed through more than a year of the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on higher education. While students generally appreciated the emergency remote teaching in place since March 2020, the public health measures made it difficult to complete the required work placement, and many students, faculty, and staff also had to manage difficult situations at home and work.
Meanwhile, Cristann extended her success story by securing a Data Analyst and Report Specialist position with Heliolytics, a global leader in consulting services around solar photovoltaic projects. Her internship as Junior Policy Analyst at the Ontario Ministry of Education along with her Geographic Analysis course work and a series of parttime jobs in the service sector prepared her well for permanent fulltime employment straight out of university. Cristann finds the Geographic Analysis Token a “forward-looking” idea – “whether it succeeds or fails” –, and “an excellent way of congratulating students!” More information on GATO is available here.
