Deena John Creates Geographic Analysis Alumni Story Map
(external link, opens in new window)
Deena John graduated with a BA in Geographic Analysis in 2011 and worked as GIS Analyst for the City of Toronto, prior to emigrating to the US. After four years as GIS Manager at the City of Dayton, Ohio, she served as Public Relations Coordinator for Sinclair Community College and is now a Marketing and Visual Communications Consultant with a number of organizations in the education sector.
In collaboration with Ryerson's Geography department, Deena created a story map that shows the whereabouts of a selection of alumni of the Geographic Analysis program. Deena started with some of her classmates and friends. We then expanded the map to show some of the most unusual careers and far-away locations of our alumni, including some graduates of the predecessor degree in Applied Geography.
The above screenshot alone shows alumni at locations as exciting as Bermuda, Bavaria, and Bangkok, and careers ranging from associate professor to basketball coach and boat captain! Please explore the interactive story map of "Ryerson GIS Graduates and their Career Pathways (external link, opens in new window) ". We thank the participating alumni for the permission to use their LinkedIn information and photos.
