Şevin Gülfer Sağnıç

Şevin Gülfer Sağnıç is currently pursuing a PhD in the Department of Sociology at the University of California, San Diego, where she is also engaged as a graduate student researcher at the Comparative Center for Immigration Studies. She has earned M.A. degrees in International Migration from the University of Kent-BSIS (2014) and International Relations from Bogazici University (2017).

Her professional background includes projects funded by the European Union and consultancy work for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Additionally, she is registered as an expert for the UNESCO Inclusive Policy Lab.

Şevin's research focuses on international migration, international relations and political sociology. Her ongoing doctoral project examines refugee policies from the late Ottoman Empire to contemporary Turkey, specifically in the contexts of foreign policy and citizenship policies. She has undertaken research projects exploring gendered vulnerabilities within refugee studies and has contributed to analyzing Global South refugee research trends and populism.
