Monisha Poojary

Monisha is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at York University. She is a research assistant on the Beyond the Metropolis project at CERC Migration. Monisha has an interdisciplinary background in the fields of sociology, psychology and criminology and is trained in qualitative and quantitative methodological approaches. She is interested in exploring processes of migration, diaspora formations, and racial and ethnic identity negotiation. Her dissertation uses a panethnic framework to explore how political, cultural and social factors impact South Asian intergroup dynamics and identity negotiation processes amongst immigrants
in the Greater Toronto Area.
