Until Next Time!
Whether you’ve been following this blog since you first heard about Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) or this is the first time you’ve found it — hi! In case you’re new here, my name is Jenna, and I was tasked with writing blogs on TMU’s Future Student Blog this school year. It was part of my Content Writer position, which I got through TMU’s Career Boost program. I’m in my fourth and final year of Creative Industries and the school year is coming to a close, which means that I’ll be signing off from the Future Student Blog!
My relationship with blog writing for future students goes WAY back — all the way back to September 2019, which was my first year of university. I was hired as a Digital Marketing Assistant for the same team I work for now, and have been working for them ever since! I’ve done a little bit of everything throughout the years, but writing blogs was always my favourite task. The blogs I enjoyed writing the most were the ones where I put fictional characters or celebrities into the setting of TMU, like in “If Gilmore Girls Characters Went to Our University” and “If Taylor Swift Eras were TMU Students.” A close second would be all of the pieces I got to write after interviewing fellow students, like my “Five Q’s About You and TMU: Sophie” blog. I loved learning about others and their experiences and being able to share them with future students. Writing about my university journey, and hopefully helping a student or two along the way, has been one of the best feelings.
This is a bittersweet moment for me, as this was the best on-campus job I could have ever asked for — I’m very sad to be leaving it behind. Working as a Content Writer was one of the highlights of my undergraduate experience and I’ll miss it a lot. But, I’m also looking forward to graduating and moving on to the next chapter of my life, whatever it looks like!
Okay, sappiness over.
The moral of this blog is to check out some ways to get involved on campus, whether it be through Career Boost, joining a student group (external link, opens in new window) or playing intramural sports — it might be one of the best decisions you make! You never know what experiences might come your way and what connections and relationships you’ll form. It’s been a blast!
