In Response to COVID-19
Ryerson FCAD Prototypes Critical Medical Supplies
The Ryerson Faculty of Communication and Design (FCAD) collaborates with the hospital sector to prototype and develops vital medical supplies for health professionals and the public.
In light of the developing global health situation, FCAD’s Creative Technology Lab is collaborating with several hospitals in Toronto and a medical innovation network, called Glia, to help battle the shortage of medical supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic for both medical professionals and the public. Blending creative thought application, on-site state-of-the-art technology and medical expertise, FCAD is prototyping two types of personal protective equipment (PPE) - plastic face shields and hand-made sustainable face masks.
Knix Raises Over $200,000 to Donate PPE to Frontline Workers
Knix (external link) has raised over $200,000 to supply personal protective equipment (PPE) using the support of community donations from our Knix GoFundMePage to create centralized supplies for distribution!
Knix is accepting monetary donations that are going to be used to order certified equipment from overseas, and to donate the goods to places that are experiencing near term shortages.

Numi is Donating Masks to Local Hospitals
Numi (external link) has committed to donating 1,200 non-medical fabric masks to local hospitals in need. These masks are used to reduce the strain on medical masks needed by patient-facing doctors and nurses.
Our goal is to donate 5,000 more masks in April. Also, for every purchase of a Numi undershirt, Numi will donate the funds of 2 non-medical grade masks to further increase our contribution.
Vinta Gallery Sells Out Face Masks
Vinta Gallery (external link) is donating $20 from their face mask sales to Pagasa; an organization that feeds families in the Philippines in vulnerable communities. Their masks sold out and raised $1,800USD for the organization.
Sprout Donates to Toronto General and Western Hospital Foundation
Sprout Collection (external link) is donating $20 for every box ordered to the Toronto General and Western Hospital Foundation to fight COVID-19.
Wuxly Launches New Collection and Donates to PPE Production
Wuxly (external link) released their new Earth Collection made of biodegradable and recycled materials, all Canadian Made. Shop the sneak-peak pre-sale during the month of April in celebration of Earth Month.
Proceeds from products purchased will be put towards the production of PPE items for our community to support COVID-19 protection.
Gotengo Donates to St. Michael's Hospital Foundation Courage Fund
Gotengo (external link) is donating 5% of sales to the St. Michael's Hospital Foundation Courage Fund, which supports the fight against COVID-19. They will also contribute half of the donations raised on sales of Tiger of Sweden products made through Gotengo.

Knixwear Donates $25,000 to #BlackLivesMatter
Knixwear (external link) showed complete solidarity with #BlackLivesMatter (external link) by committing a total donation of $100,000. They have now donated $25,000 to Black Lives Matter (external link) , and are committed to continuing the donation by offering $75,000 of the proceeds from the Knix Nudes Collection and Postpartum Collection in support of the Black Community.
To continue the movement and the fight against racial inequality, Knix also provided links for (google doc) anti-racist resources (external link) and other ways to help (external link) .
