Program Information

TMU's Obstetrics and Gynecology Program will equip residents with the knowledge and skills to become versatile generalist obstetrician-gynecologists and visionary leaders. Residents will learn advanced, evidence-based clinical skills to deliver empathetic, culturally responsive care. Beyond clinical medicine, our program actively fosters leadership through research, advocacy, education and personal wellness.

The program received accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2025. TMU is excited to begin accepting applications through CaRMS for its inaugural OB/GYN cohort, entering July 2027.

Foundational Curriculum

Our comprehensive, competency-based Foundational Curriculum covers diverse areas, including equity, diversity and inclusion in medical care, research strategies, communication skills and patient safety. Our unique LEARN Time program also offers individualized time, space and resources for residents to focus on areas of specialized interest.

 

Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada and meet both the basic criteria (external link)  and the Ontario-specific criteria (external link)  to apply to the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program. International medical graduates (IMGs) are eligible to apply, provided they meet all relevant criteria (external link) .

Residents who complete TMU’s Obstetrics and Gynecology program will be eligible to write the Royal College examination in OB/GYN.

Residents will train at sites with which TMU has clinical affiliations. These sites offer a range of surgeries and interventions to diverse patient populations of all ages, with varying health histories and life experiences, including:

How to Apply

Applications to the Obstetrics and Gynecology program are accepted only through CaRMS. All applicants will be notified through CaRMS Online, and TMU will send email invitations directly to applicants selected for an interview.

Three reference letters are required with your application. Referees should be in a position to comment on your clinical and/or research skills, knowledge, suitability, and interpersonal skills.
