Match Day 2026: 109 Reasons to Celebrate
With the arrival of Match Day 2026, a new cohort of doctors has discovered where the next stage of their medical journey begins. At TMU’s School of Medicine, we are especially proud to share that, for the second consecutive year, TMU is the only Canadian medical school to fill 100 per cent of its positions in the national R-1 match. Every TMU residency program successfully filled positions across all matches, ensuring that each program will welcome new trainees this year. This includes critical placements in geriatrics, care of the elderly and palliative care—strengthening support for Canada’s seniors and their families.
This July, 109 postgraduate learners will join the TMU family as the next generation of physicians. This achievement reflects the strength of our mission, the calibre of our learners and affirms the demand for a new kind of medical education — one rooted in community-centred care, health equity and system innovation.
