Supporting the School of Medicine
Leading the Change in Primary Care
To address Ontario's primary care crisis, where millions lack family doctors, the TMU School of Medicine is training physicians to meet evolving healthcare needs. Through innovative education, graduates will develop solutions for our strained healthcare system.
The impact of your support
Our supporters create opportunities through their generosity. The School of Medicine is uniquely positioned to impact both the education and health-care sectors, with clear outcomes for both students and patients.
With a strong focus on increasing primary care capacity, especially in underserved communities, the School of Medicine is targeting 60% family medicine residencies and will be a leader in transforming medical education and community care.
Help TMU train the next generation of doctors
How donations make a difference
On September 3, 2025, as it officially welcomed its inaugural class of medical students, TMU announced that Orlando Corporation has pledged up to $25 million in a dollar-for-dollar match for new donations to the TMU School of Medicine.
Orlando Corporation’s commitment will double the value and double the impact of giving in support of the new medical school’s drive to train a new generation of physicians in a state-of-the-art learning environment.
“Supporting the education of future physicians will help address a critical shortfall of family practitioners,” said Orlando Corporation President Blair Wolk, “and we invite everyone to join us to increase access to quality care for all Ontarians. Together, we can build a healthier future.”
Key Initiatives
The TMU School of Medicine is defined by two ambitious and interconnected initiatives: the development of a state-of-the-art facility and the establishment of a robust scholarship and awards program. These allied priorities will not only provide a physicial home for the school but will also ensure that the most promising and diverse students have the opportunity to pursue a medical education, regardless of their financial circumstances.
Building the Future
To prepare the former Bramalea Civic Centre for the TMU School of Medicine and its students—the first new GTA medical school in over 100 years—financial support is needed. This will ensure exceptional training for future physicians and increase healthcare capacity.
Investing in Talent
TMU understands the life-changing impact of post-secondary education on individuals and their communities. A robust awards program is essential to recruit excellent, inclusive physicians. Scholarships increase access, reward achievement, and remove the financial obstacles that often prevent talented graduates from aplying to medical school.

Supporting Ground-breaking Research
Purpose-driven and agile, medical research at the TMU School of Medicine will focus on innovative approaches to improving health-care delivery, including new clinical technologies. Building on the university’s existing strengths, our research portfolio will respond to urgent and emerging issues in health care. Investing in medical research fuels discovery and helps shape the current—and next—generation of medical minds who will lead the health-care breakthroughs of tomorrow.
