Carolyn Meyer, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the School of Professional Communication, a Member of the School of Graduate Studies and former Associate Chair and Undergraduate Program Director. She is an educator and scholar with several decades of teaching and research experience in professional writing, genre studies, rhetoric and composition studies, organizational and technical communication, and communication and technology. Her graduate teaching has focused on grant writing and fundraising (MPC) and risk and crisis communication (MHSc in Nutrition Communication).

Dr. Meyer has taught at Mount Allison University and the University of Toronto, and is the recipient of an excellence in teaching award from the University of Toronto.  She has presented her research internationally and is the author of Communicating for Results (2025, Oxford University Press), a guide to business communication now in its sixth edition and adopted by universities across Canada since 2007. She is a two-term Vice President of the Association for Business Communication.

Dr. Meyer is a recipient of a SSHRC Post-Doctoral Fellowship for research on the role of the writers' workshop in Belfast during the Troubles and a SSHRC TMU Internal Grant for research into the impact of new media on language change.
