DR. MARTIN GREIG APPOINTED INTERIM CHAIR OF HISTORY FOR 2024-2025

Dr. Martin Greig has been appointed Interim Chair of the Department of History for the 2024-2025 academic year while its chair, Dr. Jean Li, pursues a number of interests during her sabbatical.

Professor Greig has been a permanent faculty member at Toronto Metropolitan University since 2003. He is a specialist in Early Modern Britain, and has taught courses in a range of areas, including British and British Empire history, Europe from the Mediaeval period to the present, as well as intellectual history. His research and writing interests focus on England and Scotland between the mid-17th and early 18th centuries. Dr. Greig is looking forward to celebrating, and contributing to, the continued success of our students, staff, and faculty in the Department of History.

Professor Li – a specialist in the art and archaeology of Ancient Egypt – will return to el-Hibeh, Egypt for a winter excavation season, followed by preparations for a presentation at the First International Congress on Gender Studies in Ancient Egypt in March 2025. Additional travels to Asia form part of her plans for the coming year.
