Associate Dean, Programs

The Associate Dean, Programs, works closely with the Vice-Provost and Dean to manage the graduate component of the institutional quality assurance process (IQAP), mandated by the Quality Council. This includes supporting graduate programs through the Periodic Program Review Process (Policy 126), new program development (Policy 112) and curriculum modifications (Policy 127). The Associate Dean collaborates with various graduate stakeholders to maintain overall compliance with the Quality Assurance Framework of the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance.
About Dr. Carl Kumaradas
Dr. Carl Kumaradas is an associate professor in the Department of Physics and the former interim chair of the Department of Physics. Dr. Kumaradas has more than nine years of experience as the graduate program director for the biomedical physics program, where he led the development of its PhD degree and the implementation of a new program option designed to meet the standards of its accrediting body.
Dr. Kumaradas holds a BASc in electrical engineering and an MSc and PhD in medical biophysics, all from the University of Toronto. His research focuses on computational modelling in biomedical physics with a focus on the use of nanoparticles for cancer detection and treatment. He is currently actively involved in collaborative research with a few companies to work on the translation of his basic science research to clinical practice. Throughout his career at Toronto Metropolitan University, he has supervised 23 graduate students and published 23 peer-reviewed scientific articles.
