EnSciMan PhD Grad Wins Dennis Mock Student Leadership Award

Recognized for his outstanding contributions in leadership as a student, recent EnSciMan grad Dr. Olalekan Onilude is the YSGS Overall Dennis Mock Leadership Award Recipient.

Dr. Olalekan Onilude (external link, opens in new window)  completed the PhD Environmental Applied Science and Management program in Fall 2020. Prior to that, he completed the Masters in Environmental Applied Science and Management.

His supervisors, Dr. Eric Vaz (opens in new window)  and Dr. Mustafa Koç (opens in new window) , nominated Dr. Olalekan Onilude based on his academic success and contributions to the Greater Toronto Area and Ryerson Community.

In their nomination letter, the supervisors said Dr. Onilude is, "a scholar committed to excelling himself and making a difference for himself, his family, the community and his profession".

Dr. Onilude has been an active member of OPAC Inc. as well as donor and volunteer of Daily Bread Food Bank Etobicoke, Food Bank Concord and FoodShare Toronto. He also coordinated fundraising activities for the ENA USA/Canada in Toronto and served in committees that provided undergraduate student scholarships in Egba Land Nigeria.

He also served as a student representative for the 2016-2017 EnSciMan Graduate Program Council, a student volunteer at the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences in 2017, and at the World Congress of Rural Sociology in 2016 (both at Toronto Metropolitan University).
