Academic Matters

An academic supervisor and student having a conversation

To ensure that your academic life stays firmly on track, it’s helpful to get familiar with the various checklists, calendars and policies that apply specifically to you as a current graduate student. From thesis submission guidelines to forms for stipends and transfer credits, plus everything you need to know about supervision and advising, the Yeates School of Graduate Studies has the resources you require. Program-specific forms—such as course approvals, change of supervisor, and thesis oral exam scheduling request forms—can be found via your program’s website.

Out-of-Program Courses

Want an opportunity to expand your knowledge beyond the scope of your discipline and make yourself more competitive in the job market? Consider taking some of your electives in out-of-program courses. To do so, submit a completed  (PDF file) course substitution form to your graduate program administrator and obtain approval from the graduate program directors/associate chair of graduate studies from both your home and your host program. Course substitutions are not automatic; program directors/associate chairs and instructors reserve the right to limit external enrollment in the courses they offer.
