What's Available?
First Year Science Office (FYSO)
The First Year Science office is the home department for most first-year Faculty of Science students. It’s a go-to resource for transitioning successfully into university-level studies.
Peer Academic Leaders in Science (PALS)
Peer Academic Leaders in Science is a group of upper year science students who provide mentorship to first year science students to assist in their transition to university life. They run academic focused and social events for first year students to learn skills and build community. Follow them on instagram to learn more @firstyearsci_tmu
Supported Learning Groups
Supported Learning Groups meet throughout the week to discuss course- specific topics in a peer-to-peer learning environment, to support your academic success. Appointments are available virtually on Google Meet, or in-person. Check out the (google doc) SLG Schedule (external link) to see when sessions will be held.
The Undergraduate Science Society of Toronto Metropolitan (USSTM) (external link)
The representative body for undergraduate students within the Faculty of Science. USSTM is led by the elected members. USSTM plans and runs a spectrum of impactful events, delivers essential services, and facilitates a platform for constructive dialogue. Funding is available for FOS students to attend conferences and present research.
SciMentorship Program
A program that connects upper-year science students with experienced professionals and alumni to offer mentorship and guidance in your last few years of undergraduate study and moving forward.
Debug Room
The Debug Room offers personalized support for students enrolled in the computer science program focusing on labs, assignments, and coursework. It also provides guidance on co-op opportunities and academic resources. Appointments can be held via online or in-person format.
Student Project Grant
The Faculty of Science Project Grants provide financial support for student-initiated projects and activities that promote experiential learning and student engagement. Applications are accepted throughout the year, including summer term.
