Bachelor of Health Administration

The Bachelor of Health Administration part-time degree completion program consists of 22 courses, including 16 required core courses, three upper Level liberal courses and three open electives.

Students have the option of meeting these requirements through evening or online classes. Small class sizes allow for an intimate learning environment, focusing on shared learning with instructors and peers.

Candidates for admission to the BHA degree-completion program should meet the minimum requirements outlined below. The program is primarily intended for two separate, distinct applicant streams. The university welcomes and encourages applications from both of these groups as outlined below:

Stream A

  1. Graduation from a two year Diploma program or three year Advanced Diploma program in applied health science (e.g., nursing, health information management, medical laboratory technology, chiropody, radiology) from a public Ontario College, or the equivalent, with a grade average of 'B' or higher. The diploma must include a one-year introductory, university level Liberal Studies course or the equivalent.
  2. At least two years of cumulative, current professional experience in the health services field.

Stream B

  1. Completion of at least two years of study in a health-related undergraduate degree program with acceptable academic standing, or completion of a degree in another field, from an accredited university.
  2. At least two years of cumulative, current professional experience in the health services field.

Potential applicants with other post-secondary academic backgrounds and professional experience in the healthcare field will be considered on an individual basis.

 For Stream A and B

The following must also be submitted to Undergraduate Admissions:

  • Academic transcripts including promotion/graduation status of all post-secondary studies (excluding Toronto Met). High school transcripts are not required for this program. Mature Student guidelines do not apply.
  • A completed Toronto Met Supplementary Form

After you submit your application for admission, you will be required to activate your false (if you have not already done so). This will provide you with access to your ChooseTMU Applicant Portal account, which is how we will communicate with you. You will be required to upload the above documents, as well as your academic transcripts, in your ChooseTMU Applicant Portal account. Visit the Submission of Documents page for further instructions.

Please follow the steps below in order to register for courses using the MyServiceHub online registration system.

If you are unsure of your program requirements, please consult the Toronto Metropolitan University Undergraduate Calendar from the semester/year that you were admitted. An academic year contains three semesters, Fall, Winter, and Spring/Summer, and each academic year begins in Fall. (eg. If you were admitted in Fall 2020 you would consult the Undergraduate Calendar for 2020-2021)

  1. Determine which courses you have already taken and/or which courses you still need to take, using your Academic Advisement Report.
  2. Consult the  (PDF file) Tentative Schedule (opens in new window) . Courses are subject to change on a year-to-year basis. Students should reference the Tentative Schedule on the website when planning their courses. 
  3. Login to MyServiceHub and register for your courses.

NOTE: All students are responsible for ensuring that the courses they are taking are part of their required program curriculum.  Students can refer to the Undergraduate Calendar (for the academic year they were admitted) and their Academic Advisement Report to determine their program requirements.

For questions related to Transfer Credits, please see the Transfer Credit Website. Transfer credits must be applied for online in your MyServiceHub account. Find the instructions on how to apply by logging into MyServiceHub (opens in new window) .

It is best to apply for Transfer Credit as soon as you are accepted into the program. Please note, transfer credits may take up to a full semester to be applied to your account.

Student spotlight

Dustin Seidler

Bachelor of Health Administration in Health Services Management, Admit 2019

Dustin has eleven years as a Paramedic having worked in rural, event, industrial, and now municipal services. He is currently working towards completing this degree and is considering getting into the school of medicine, management within his current organization, or getting his Master’s in Health Science. Dustin recently competed in the Ted Rogers School of Management Case Competition and received a third-place finish. Dustin looks forward to being part of the student council to be able to help fellow classmates navigate the work/school/life balance. Dustin has completed three semesters and hopes to join practicum in Winter 2022.

Student spotlight

Karen Bolesa

Karen is Co-President of the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (external link, opens in new window)  Toronto Metropolitan University Open School and a member of the Toronto Met Dragonboat Varsity Team. Karen graduated with Honours from University of Toronto with a double major in Health Science and Anthropology and is currently pursuing a degree in Health Services Management and a certificate in Project Management that is specializing in Community and Health Services Management. She is a manager at a busy physiotherapy clinic and a bed administrator at St. Joseph’s Health Centre. With over 5 years of experience in both the private and public sectors in the Canadian healthcare industry, Karen aims for a role that will allow her to make a meaningful impact in the improvement of patient care and the delivery of healthcare services.

Lastly, Karen is also an active student representative on Student Council and has proved invaluable in providing the program department with feedback and recommendations pertaining to undergraduate education and course offerings.
