Nadia Carvalho
Nadia works with the CERC in Health Equity and Community Wellbeing on the Thriving vs Surviving Project. Nadia's background is in global public health; she has technical experience in reproductive health/family planning, maternal and child health, and HIV/AIDS, with expertise in health policy analysis, monitoring and evaluation of health programs, and health health systems strengthening. She is also a Senior Associate at Avenir Health, where she works with low-and middle-income country governments, donors, and global initiatives to support the use data and evidence in setting targets and allocating health resources. Prior to that Nadia provided strategic direction, programmatic and technical oversight to the implementation of maternal and reproductive health programs in Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Burundi, Niger, and Botswana as Associate Director of Program Operations at Venture Strategies Innovations (2012-2014). From 2004-2011 she served as Asia Near East (ANE) Regional Manager and Senior Policy Advisor with Futures Group where she managed the ANE portfolio including HIV/AIDS programs in the region, with the ASEAN Secretariat, and in China, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Nadia began her career as Public Health Specialist for HIV/AIDS and Infectious Diseases at USAID in Nepal (2001 to 2004).
