Are you an emerging making-based creative or researcher?
Do you have an intention or curiosity towards learning more about sustainable creative practices and contradictory behaviour around environmentalism in art making?
...if so, we have the virtual micro-residency for you!
This March Studio Rat and the Design Fabrication Zone are teaming up to offer students of the Creative School and Zonelearning Members the opportunity to explore emergent relationships between plastic, craft and art! Join us in virtual community as we examine our complicated relation to the ubiquity of plastic and the challenging nuances of environmentally conscious creativity.
This virtual micro-residency is an opportunity to connect with peers through discussion and critical thinking. Over the course of 3 weeks we will work through readings, research, and collaborative exercises to build a collection of open-source decision support tools (DSTs) that will help the maker community more meaningfully consider their relationship to plastic.
At the end of the micro-residency you are invited to join Studio Rat’s investigations on #makingwithplastic by participating in their culminating community workshop on DIY #plasticrafting and low tech recycling techniques as a means to reconcile with the irreversible binding of plastic with landscape and everyday experience.
Participants who are committed and passionate about creative reuse, waste reduction, and low impact practices in art, design, and everyday life are encouraged to apply!
Applications are due at 5pm on Feb. 21st. Click the 'Register' button to apply.
