Get *crafty/creative/comfy/coding* through DFZ Clubs! This summer the DFZ is launching seasonal learning Clubs as a new programming initiative targeted to DFZ members, students, and the public.

The DFZ's Club programming is meant to be an entry-level, approachable, and financially accessible programming tier which would introduce our community members to design-leaning practices through casual hands-on tutorials and info-sharing.

Series 1 of DFZ Clubs launches this July 20th, 2021 and features a Bioplastic Club facilitated by Miranda Shou (she/her), a Creative Coding Club facilitated by Creative Technologist, New Media Artist and Creative Coder Ofir Rosen (they/them), and a Mending Club facilitated by multidisciplinary artist Janelle Sookhai (she/her).

About the Instructor

Miranda Shou (she/her) is a new media artist, community organizer, and researcher in biomaterial, tangible, and embodied interaction based in Toronto. Miranda focuses on nuanced relationships between technological objects, their generated power, and control in society by making artworks to examine how technology influences human culture and identity. Her artistic practice explores empathy, cultural artifacts, and patterns of microorganisms. Miranda researches bioplastics to establish embodied interactions in medical training, and organize community science projects that decentralize dominant culture in knowledge production. Alongside DFZ member Ananda Gabo, Miranda is currently organizing Culture Culture (external link, opens in new window) , a peer review journal and bio conference happening later this summer.
