Course reports for the 2026-2027 academic year are now available.

Create a new course.

A new course must be accompanied by a Category 2 (opens in new window)  Minor Modification adding it to a core curriculum or a Liberal Studies table.

1.  Fill out a  (google form) New Course Code Request (external link, opens in new window)  form.

This is a critical step. This lets Undergraduate Publications make sure that the desired course code is available.

A new degree-level course must be

  • part of the core curriculum of at least one degree program,
  • or, if intended for a general audience, developed as a Liberal Studies course.

If adding the course to a Liberal Studies table ...

2. Fill out  (google form) Curriculum Modification Proposal - Template Request Form for Undergraduate Programs (external link) .

  • The form will assist in determining the category (level) of the curriculum change.
  • If the change is determined to be a Category 2 minor modification, please submit via the Calendar Change Hub.
  • If the change is determined to be a Category 3 minor modification or a major modification, you will receive a template document for a proposal. The template will be tailored to your specific modification. It will not include any redundancies and unnecessary sections for your specific request.
    • After your proposal has been submitted to OVPA by May 31, please submit all curricular changes via the Calendar Change Hub.

3. Go to the  (google form) Calendar Change Hub (external link, opens in new window) .

  • On the first page, choose "Course-Level Change" and enter the course code.
  • Then, choose "New Course."
  • Specify the details of the course as prompted (e.g., title, course description, GPA weight, billing hours).
    • This provides us with the essential information needed to create the course in the Student Administration System.
    • Carefully consider requisites or exclusions, and use them judiciously to ensure that appropriately prepared students can enrol in the course.

If adding the course to a Liberal Studies table ...

  • In the field "Is this a Liberal Studies course?", choose whether the course will be a Lower Level (Table A) or Upper Level (Table B) Liberal Studies course.

3. Now that the course is created, add it to a curriculum.

  • You will be prompted to continue on to the Curriculum-Level Change section.
  • See Add a course to a curriculum for instructions on filling out this section.

If adding the course to a Liberal Studies table ...

PLEASE NOTE: There is no way to specify multiple programs when filling out the Calendar Change Hub.

This is done to ensure that each change is evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the stakeholders involved. This reduces the likelihood that oversights will occur.
