Hosting an Event
Housed within The Creative School at Toronto Metropolitan University, The Catalyst’s goal is to support transdisciplinary activities between The Creative School and its industry and community partners. The Catalyst is filled with activities on a daily basis, ranging from research presentations, book launches, industry meetings, student presentations, and so much more.
To support all of our activities The Catalyst offers a variety of spaces, including:
- Meeting rooms with teleconferencing and video conferencing capabilities
- A full service kitchenette to suit your catering needs
- A flexible main space that can be transformed to suit theatre style presentations, roundtables, lunchins, and much more
Booking an Event
The Catalyst is first and foremost a space to support faculty and student scholarly, research, and creative (SRC) activities. Space priority will be given to those activities that support The Catalyst's mission to support and nurture SRC activities at The Creative School however we are available to support any activity from the larger Toronto Metropolitan University community or external partners pending availability.

For the Fall '25 and Winter '26 semesters, the Catalyst will be operating on partial availability. Please review the schedule below before submitting your request, if your request is outside one of the designated event times your event will be declined automatically.
Note for Student Groups: Student Group slots on Mondays and Tuesdays are reserved for groups that do not require additional staff support. Time slots are for groups to have a meeting space and will not have access to event or a/v support during these time slots.
Additionally the Catalyst will be subject to rotating closures during the Academic Year where no events will be taking place in order to ensure staff have time to maintain and upkeep the space in addition to their other duties. Please review the full list of closures below:

- September 29th through October 3rd
- November 3rd through November 7th
- February 23rd through February 27th
- March 23rd through March 27th
- April 27th through May 1st
