Helen worked at SickKids Hospital, holding a variety of positions over 40 years, including staff nurse, nurse educator, project manager, clinical director; retiring as the Chief Nursing Informatics Officer in 2020. The focus of her role was to provide leadership and influence clinical transformation through adoption and use of technologies and systems; and their associated data. 

Helen continues to be involved in informatics through advising as a clinical informatics consultant and presenting at a variety of forums. She is an Adjunct Lecturer for the University of Toronto Master of Health Informatics program, recently completed two terms as the Communications Co-Director for the Canadian Nursing Informatics Association, sits on the Board for the HIMSS Ontario Chapter and sits as an advisor on the Safehaven AI and Technology Committee. Helen is passionate about mentoring the next generation of leaders and those interested in an informatics career. She acts as a formal mentor in the Toronto Emerging Leaders Forum Mentorship program as well as the University of Toronto Nursing Alumni Mentorship program. She is excited to sit on the Ted Rogers School of Health Services Management Advisory Council at Toronto Metropolitan University.
