Dr. Mashatan discusses zero-trust security with cybersecurity executives at the Swift Institute's Sibos 2023 annual conference

CRL Director, Dr. Atty Mashatan, CIBC’s Chief Information Security Office and SVP, Joe LoBianco, and Red Hat’s Senior Director, Global Head of Intelligent Edge Business Development, Kelly Switt gathered at Sibos 2023 (external link, opens in new window)  to discuss the zero-trust-based approach to cybersecurity in fintech (external link, opens in new window) , drivers, barriers, and lessons learned! 

Zero-trust is a new approach to cybersecurity where the focus is on guarding each resource separately rather than one main access point to the whole system. Every resource request is authenticated separately. It is a resource-based approach compared to perimeteric-approach today. This ensures the user can only access the resource it's allowed to use.

Sibos (external link, opens in new window)  is an annual conference organized by Swift, the world's biggest payment system used by banks to transfer information such as money transfer. The conference attracts major banks from around the world to discuss various topics in technology, cybersecurity and finance. This year’s conference will discuss topics related to collaborative finance in a fragmented world, risk management in times of economic and geopolitical uncertainty, and the balance between technology and trust.
