Nadja Schauer

Trade Commissioner, Global Affairs Canada

Since beginning her career at Global Affairs Canada in 2009, Nadja has held a variety of different positions in Canada and abroad. Starting out in the Trade Policy branch, she worked to reduce non-tariff barriers imposed on Canadian companies by trading partners. During her following assignment, she spent three years as Second Secretary in the Trade Section of the Mission of Canada to the EU in Brussels, Belgium, advancing Canadian interests in the clean technology and oil and gas sectors. Since her return to Canada in 2014, Nadja has been working as a Trade Commissioner at the Ontario Regional Office of the Trade Commissioner Service in Toronto. There, she assists companies in a variety of different sectors with their international market expansion activities. In 2015, she spent one month at Canada's Embassy to the US in Washington, D.C. to assist with a special project. Nadja graduated from the Smith School of Business at Queen's University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2007 and gained her CITP (Certified International Trade Professional) certification in 2016. Nadja is fluent in English, French, and German, and spent a semester in Chile during university.
