New Research Reveals AI in Nearly 300 Canadian Federal Government Projects: Introducing the Canadian TAG Register

April 25, 2024

Exciting news! Canada's federal government has used AI in nearly 300 projects and initiatives, including predicting tax case outcomes, sorting temporary visa applications, and promoting diversity in hiring. This significant finding comes from new research that reveals the growing role of AI in government operations.

To keep track of these developments, the Canadian TAG register has just been launched. This essential registry, developed by Starling Centre researchers Joanna Redden, Sananda Sahoo, Effie Sapuridis, Janet Allen, and JP Mann, provides a comprehensive overview of how AI is being used across government agencies. It aims to promote transparency and foster informed discussions on AI's role in public services.
