Book launch - "The Optics of Blood" by Prof. Alexandre Douplik

Join us for a free in-person book launch event with Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Alexandre (Sasha) Douplik, as he presents the newly released book: The Optics of Blood: A Handbook (external link)  (part of the Institute of Physics Series in Advances in Optics, Photonics and Optoelectronics). Hosted by Prof. A.Douplik, Department of Physics and Faculty of Science, TMU.

About the event

This book offers a comprehensive synthesis of the structural, biochemical, and rheological foundations underpinning blood’s complex optical behavior. As a medium central to life and diagnostics, blood exhibits a rich interplay of absorption, scattering, and fluorescence properties.

The volume integrates foundational concepts with cutting-edge optical modalities—such as Raman spectroscopy, optoacoustics, OCT, biomodulation, and photodynamic therapy—spanning applications in imaging, diagnosis, and therapeutics across disciplines. With a focus on multiscale integration, label-free and contrast-enhanced techniques, and translational relevance from preclinical models to clinical practice, the handbook establishes a unifying framework for understanding and leveraging blood–photon interactions. It equips researchers, clinicians, and engineers with the knowledge to navigate the expanding landscape of biophotonic diagnostics and interventions.

Be among the first to hear insights from the Editor-in-Chief himself as he discusses the inspiration, research, and significance behind The Optics of Blood: A Handbook—a comprehensive and timely contribution to the field.
