The following faculty members have championed open teaching at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Open Access Wall of Fame

The Toronto Metropolitan University Library's Open Access Wall of Fame honours instructors who have demonstrated a commitment to ensuring their teaching is open and available to all. 

Trevor Hart, Faculty of Arts

Dr. Trevor Hart is the Director of the HIV Prevention Lab and Director of TMU’s new HOPE Centre for Gender and Sexual Minority People: the first and only Centre in Canada dedicated to combining health research aimed at understanding disparities in sexual and gender minority health, with the identification, testing, and implementation of counselling and other practice solutions for better health outcomes. 

Frank Russo, Faculty of Arts

Frank Russo is a Full Professor of Psychology and the Director of the Science of Music Auditory Research and Technology (SMART) Lab at Toronto Metropolitan University. His research in the SMART Lab investigates the neuro-cognitive, neuro-affective, and socio-biological aspects of music, speech, and hearing. 

Anatoliy Gruzd, Ted Rogers School of Management

Professor Anatoliy Gruzd from the Ted Rogers School of Information Technology Management. Grudz recognizes the importance and connection between open access publishing and the role of social media in promotion and dissemination of scholarly research, and regularly posts his research work in open formats. 

Jennifer Lapum, Faculty of Community Services

Jennifer Lapum is a Professor in the Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing and a leader and social justice advocate in the development and curricular integration of Open Educational Resources (OER) in post-secondary education. She has been a lead author and editor in the production of several e-textbooks that have involved creating original content combined with adapting and remixing existing OER. 

Paul Chafe and Aaron Tucker, Faculty of Arts

Paul Chafe and Aaron Tucker wanted to provide a free textbook to the over 1400 students who take SSH 205: Academic Writing and Research each year at Ryerson. They developed Write Here, Right Now: An Interactive Introduction to Academic Writing and Research.

Toronto Metropolitan University Open Moments

Toronto Metropolitan University Open Moments is a book that describes the journeys of eight educators who came to discover open education through projects in which they developed open educational resources. Each of these stories recounts a different journey towards open and what open education comes to mean for each of our storytellers. These stories vary based on their goals, their experiences of teaching, and the types of projects they pursued.
