Regional Hubs

MEMO’s core research is undertaken by researchers and partners working in four regional hubs of activity. The hubs represent the three migration systems plus Canada.

– the migration system of the Americas focusing on migration flows from the northern countries of Central America (Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador) to Mexico and further North to the USA and Canada;

– the migration system of West Africa, focusing on Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal and Ivory Coast and their inter-related flows to each other, to neighbouring countries in West Africa and towards Europe and Canada;

– the migration system of the northeastern part of South Asia, focusing on Nepal and Bangladesh, internal and cross border flows within South Asia, as well as to Malaysia, and Canada;

– a hub examining the ties and interactions between Canada and each of the migration systems.
