Starting university is exciting, but it may come with some anxiety. You might be wondering if you'll make friends, if you'll enjoy your time here, and if you'll find your community. We're here to assure you that you will! Our current international students at TMU were in your shoes once and now they're sharing what they did to make the most of their university life.

 Make friends

Making friends can be hard at first, but remember that you and your fellow students are in the same boat. So, don't be shy and go for it! Here's what our international students suggest for you on how you can make friends. 
 

 Participate in campus activities

From freebies at events to workshops and festivals, there are frequent events happening on campus that you should take advantage of! Going to events and workshops is a great way to meet people and improve your skillset.  

 Prioritize athletics and recreation

Your mental and physical health is crucial to your success. As a TMU, you can access various athletic and recreation facilities no matter what you're fitness goals and needs are. 

 Find your go-to spots on campus

As you study in the heart of downtown Toronto you'll stumble upon some great gems nearby or around campus. Our international students have their favourites, which one will be yours?  

As you create your own routine in your first year and explore all that TMU has to offer, you're bound to start feeling at home and settle into your university life.
