Dr. Ope Akanbi

Opeyemi Akanbi is cross appointed to the Joint Graduate Program in Communication and Culture offered in partnership with York University. Her research areas are privacy, media regulation, labor and technology and the political economy of digital media.
Ope holds a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and was a 2018-2019 Jefferson Scholars Foundation National Fellow. Her publications include articles in the Canadian Journal of Communication, Media Culture and Society, the International Journal of Communication and Yale Law Journal Forum.
I am interested in the intersection of law, technology and communication. Within this broad area, I ask questions about privacy, media regulation and organizational management.
