Suzanne Huot

Suzanne Huot is an assistant professor in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at the University of British Columbia. She leads the Community-University Partnerships research group UBC's Centre for Migration Studies. Her research program centres on the axes of occupation, immigration, and Francophone minority communities. Her research primarily addresses the occupational implications of international migration to Canada through focused, critical examination of governmental legislation, policies and discourses; of service providers and their roles; and of the experiences of individual immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers. Her recent studies, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council have examined the role of Francophone community spaces for supporting the integration of French-speaking immigrants in Metro Vancouver, as well as perceptions of shifting community dynamics in Metro Vancouver, Winnipeg, Ottawa and Moncton.
