Human Factors & Production Quality

The project HF and Production Quality project investigates the relationship between human factors engineering and quality levels in production. According to the International Ergonomics Association (IEA), the goal of human factors/ergonomics extends beyond well-being to total system performance. However, managers tend to relate human factors to health and safety rather than to business performance.

The aim of the project is to examine the available evidence on the link between HF and production quality.  We create a conceptual framework to help understand the relationship between human factors and production quality in 71 research studies.  This analysis sets the stage for developing tools and methods to help companies improve quality by attending to the crucial Human Factor.
