PIT parking garage reduction March 25 - 28 with an overnight closure March 29
Facilities Management and Development is overseeing upgrades to the lighting system in the Pitman Hall parking garage. The project will increase overall brightness in the garage to improve visibility for drivers and pedestrians in the underground parking.
Electrical crews will be removing the existing lighting fixtures and replacing them with new, brighter LED fixtures. To facilitate the work, sections of the parking garage will be cordoned off one day in advance to ensure that no vehicles park where work will be conducted overhead.
Sections of the underground garage will be restricted beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, March 25. For worker safety, the garage will also be closed overnight starting at 7 p.m. Friday, March 29 until 7 a.m. Saturday, March 30 as the lighting fixtures above the vehicle entrance and exit ramp are replaced.
Parking will be available during regular, weekday operational hours and work will conclude Saturday morning. Areas will be cordoned off in advance of the work.
How this may impact you
Parking will remain available during regular business hours Monday to Friday, but the number of spaces will be reduced as some sections of the garage will be unavailable to vehicles. Do not park in areas that are cordoned off with construction tape or other temporary barriers.
The garage will be closed overnight on Friday and vehicles must be retrieved before 7 p.m. Friday, March 29. Any vehicles in the garage after 7 p.m. Friday cannot be retrieved until Saturday morning. The overnight work has been scheduled for a holiday when the university is closed to minimize the disruption.
