“Circular Urbanism: A "Do Tank": Urban Farm-Rise” by graduate students Tetyana Gradyuk and Jasmin (Minji) Kim

This year, the Department of Architectural Science (DAS) hosted its first-ever hybrid Year End Show, presenting the culmination of the 2021/2022 academic term and showcasing the impressive and cutting-edge works of top undergraduate and graduate students in all years of study.

The show consisted of two physical exhibition spaces and a virtual presentation, with the latter available to view indefinitely via the DAS Exhibition website (external link) . The Paul H. Cocker Gallery (opens in new window)  welcomed visitors in person and featured student work from all years and programs. In addition, room ARC 202 featured students’ project models from the winter term of ASC 620 Integration Studio II, a unique course that spans two terms.

According to DAS professor Paul Floerke, Associate Chair, Undergraduate Curriculum and Mobility, and the winter term studio coordinator, these two integrated studios are key in the accredited DAS undergraduate program. “They are the only time in the students’ education that a project is carried over from Fall into the Winter Term, following through from a schematic design to the design development of a project.”

In addition to the hybrid exhibits, four 4th-year undergraduate students were awarded 2022 YES Awards based on their GPA performances in 4th-year undergraduate studios and classes:

  • Kathleen Crisol: Building Science Concentration
  • Patryk Banel: Project Management Concentration
  • Christopher Cleland: Architecture Concentration
  • Silvana Di Meglio: No Concentration

A sample of their work can be viewed in the slideshow below.
